Food Is Fuel

One mistake a I see many people make is that they make certain foods “off limits.” While certain foods may need to be reduced in the quantities eaten, ruling something as “off limits” will lead to failure. After all, all food is fuel for our bodies.

Here is how to ensure you are providing your body with good quality fuel and still leave some room for some of the foods you really enjoy.

Each meal should start with a good protein source first, then add a salad or vegetable next. That should be the foundation of each meal. It will keep you healthy, nourished, and provide the energy your body needs for the day.

The problem is we are human, and we also want satisfaction and satiation from our food. We have cravings that won’t stop, binges, and hunger for comfort food. That is why it is important to not rule any food as “bad”, or “I can’t eat that”. If you follow the first two steps above and then move onto the comfort foods we crave in moderation and not all the time, we can achieve meals that keep us nourished and nourish our soul.

Eat to live first! Then, add in those foods that won’t have you dreading your protein and salad because you know that at any time you can have what you are craving, just make sure they are smaller or appropriate portions and not every day.
