The Diet Secret…

Do you know what the secret to dieting successful is?

It’s to NEVER start a diet you can’t maintain for the rest of your life.

That is why we don’t do diets at PNF. Because all diets fail. Sure, you may lose some weight, but what happens when you stop the diet? It all comes back and then some, right?

I’m sure you’ve experienced this in the past. That is why we wanted to give you three of our top tips for healthy eating. This isn’t a diet, instead it is three simple strategies that you can do for the rest of your life.

#1 – Plan your meals.

Do you know what happens when you don’t plan? You make bad decisions and eat something you normally wouldn’t and probably didn’t even want. But, most of these impulse meals can be prevented with 10-15 minutes of planning each week. Sit down once a week and plan all of your meals for the next week and make a grocery list. At first this may seem a little overwhelming, but after a few times this will become very easy.

#2 – Focus on food quality.

Packaging can be deceiving and many times the food inside is barely nutrient dense. This leaves you hungry, or in some cases “hangry”. It also leaves you malnourished. The more quality foods you incorporate into your diet the more you realize that fads like gogi berry juice, ginkgo and acai pills, Dr. Hocus Pocus, and crushed compacted “vitamins” are unneeded at best and in most cases unethical. Why? Because your body will be getting what it needs from the high-quality food you are eating, and you will feel better and have more energy.

#3 – Fat Isn’t Evil.

Fat isn’t the enemy. In fact, eating a slightly higher diet of fat can help you lose weight. What? That’s right fat makes you feel full and stay full longer. Also, when a product is labeled fat-free or reduced fat, what do you think replaces it. Usually sugar, or franken fats – those are fats made in a lab somewhere across the country in a lab, definitely not found in nature. Fat is also necessary for proper hormone function and if you are limiting processed foods you won’t be able to find fat-free and reduce fat options because that requires processing. Now this doesn’t mean all fat is good. Of course, you can’t eat a diet of fried foods, donuts, and potato chips and expect to keep wearing the same size jeans. But, a little real butter, olive oil, fat from grass-fed meats and fish, eggs and whole milk is actually pretty good for you.
